Athabasca Landing Trail
Athabasca Landing Trail is a continuous, non-motorized recreational trail that runs 150 km from Ft. Saskatchewan to Athabasca. The trail runs through Sturgeon County with an asphalt trail from Highway 15 to the new ALT staging area northeast of Lamoureaux.
The official opening of the Lamoureux staging area and trails going south and north of it took place in August 2017. The new trails connect the river walk trail and historic markers as far as the original site of Fort Augustus. This is one of dozens of events taking place across Canada in celebration of the connection of the Trans Canada Trail during Canada’s 150th birthday. It incorporates the river walk and historic markers previously installed by the County and passes by the old Lamoureux Church.
